Macau era antigamente uma pequena aldeia piscatória. A sua história de cultivo de ostras deu-lhe os seus antigos nomes de Hou Keng (Espelho das Ostras) e Hou Keng Ou (Porto do Espelho das Ostras). Reza a lenda que a origem destes nomes se deve às ostras que brilhavam como espelhos.
No passado, Macau era conhecida pelas suas ostras frescas. Devido à poluição da água do mar, a reprodução das ostras tem vindo a diminuir drasticamente nos últimos anos, tornando-as inadequadas para consumo.

Macao used to be a small fishing village. Its oyster farming history gave it the old names of Hou Keng (Oyster Mirror) and Hou Keng Ou (Oyster Mirror Harbour). Legend has it that the origin of the names came from the oysters that shone like mirrors.
In the past, Macau was well-known for its fresh oysters. Due to seawater pollution, oyster reproduction has been drastically reduced in recent years, making them no longer suitable for consumption.

Biografia Biography
Cynthia Sio
Cynthia Sio obteve Doutoramento em Dança pela Universidade de Dankook, na Coreia, em 2024, e Mestrado em Dança Moderna pela mesma Universidade, em 2021. Em 2017, licenciou-se em Dança (Coreografia) pela Universidade Normal de Tianjin e, em 2014, concluiu o programa de mestrado na Academia de Dança de Dresden, na Alemanha.
Tem sido convidada a apresentar as suas obras em diversos festivais internacionais, nomeadamente nos Estados Unidos, no Peru, no Brasil, no Japão, na Coreia, na Índia, em Taiwan e em Hong Kong, entre outros.
Cynthia Sio received her PhD in Dance from Dankook University, Korea in 2024, and her Master’s degree in Modern Dance from Dankook University in 2021. In 2017, she graduated from Tianjin Normal University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance (Choreography), and in 2014, she took the Master’s Programme at the Dresden Dance Academy in Dresden, Germany, and received a certificate of completion.
She has been invited to perform in many international festivals with her works, including the United States, Peru, Brazil, Japan, Korea, India, Taiwan and Hong Kong, etc.
