Seeding.
Seed.
The silent seed and its secret
hiding in the solitary silo.
The silent seed
whispers in the silo.
A resounding silence
inhabits its solitude.

Seeding.
Seed.
Harvest.
Sow the seeds.
Harvest the seeding.

To be.
To sense.
Sweat.
Sow sensations.
Feeling the absurd.
Reaping the silence.
loneliness sweat

The sibilant silence of the silo
whispers the soul
between dry seeds.
Winding silence. Sustained
silence.

Only.
Honest.
Tilted
sigh.

This video dance was performed to integrate the inauguration of the Triguera de Olivença project by Contenedores de Arte. “DE LA SEMILLA AL ART” was an Artistic Action proposed by the Huellas II Laboratory in Badajoz, and promoted by Elena López de Haro, who focuses her research on the relationship between the corporeal, the creative and the environment, promoting the spirit in this process of collective creation, typical of laboratory. Those who participate in our association’s courses and workshops-laboratories are people with a very diverse personal and professional background, often mixing amateur and professional performers; at the same time, the investigation of bringing Dance, poetic movement and other forms of expression, outside the rooms, to intervene in public spaces through actions or bodily performances, has become an important motor for our initiatives.

Semeadura.
Semente.
A semente silenciosa e seu segredo
escondem-se no silo solitário.
A semente silenciosa,

Um silêncio retumbante
habita a sua solidão.

Semeadura.
Semente.

Semeie as sementes.

Sentindo um absurdo.
Colhendo o silêncio.

Suor solidão
O silêncio sibilante do silo

How can water dig into marble? In search of a stable identity through the flux of existence, FONTE (SOURCE) was born. This short film, directed by the Italian artist Guido Sarli, living in Spain, captures the contrast between the human body and a travertine quarry. It is a natural space, but it has been modified by humanity and somehow it is still in search of a new identity.

The film plays with time and with the possibility of changing its flow. The choreography of the movements is built on water, stones and the dancer’s body. While water and stones tell their own story, the dancer inhabits the quarry space with lightness and respect – it has already been affected by human intervention. Collaborations with director of photography Tommaso Cassinis and composer Pablo Esbert Lilienfeld were a wonderful experience. His cinematographic and musical sensibility worked in perfect harmony with the choreography, creating something deeper: the delicate balance of identity in motion.

Guido Sarli, choreographer and filmmaker, began his dance training in Rome, later continuing in Holland, where he graduated as a dancer at the Rotterdam Dance Academy (Codarts). He has worked with choreographers such as Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, Alexander Ekman, Stijn Celis, Gustavo Ramirez, Russell Maliphant and others. Leading his own creative platform Umma Umma (Barcelona 2010), he created several pieces awarded in international competitions such as the International Choreography Competition in Copenhagen, International Choreography Competition in Burgos New York, International Choreography Competition “No Ballet” Ludwigshafen, International Festival of Contemporary Dance of Canarias Masdanza. He created his own LONA movement methodology, teaching workshops at various dance academies across Europe. His first short film STAND ALONE was selected as a finalist at the International Screen Dance Film Festival “Fever” 2018 and was also presented at the Coreoscope International Dance Film Festival 2019. SOURCE was selected at the Coreoscope International Dance Film Festival Barcelona 2020, at Trip Space London, at the 2020 Moving Images Festival (Nicosia, Cyprus) and at the International Screen Dance Festival Fever 2020.

SOURCE foi selecionado no Choreoscope International Dance Film Festival Barcelona 2020, no Trip Space London, no Moving Images Festival 2020 (Nicosia, Chipre) e no International Festival of Screen Dance Fever 2020.

And when you think about killing your father?
In this “Oedipus’ game”, two dancers face gender roles. The heteronormative patriarchal society we have inherited not only affects the role of women (obviously impaired), but also men have a yoke, albeit perhaps more subtle. Nobody is safe. Through the myth of Oedipus, the most famous parricide in history, this video features a man struggling to kill “his father” to conquer his own identity.

OEDIPUS’ GAME received first prize for a Short Film at the Bacos Contemporary Art Biennial (Tenerife, 2016).

Luis Manuel Fernández is a doctoral candidate in Social Communication at the CEU San Pablo University. He completed his Master’s Degree in Documentary Reporting and Transmedia at the Carlos III University of Madrid and at the Instituto Radio Televisión Española (2015). It incorporates the creation of videos in the pedagogical processes in which he participates at the university. In this context, he launched a documentary on site-specific dance, Post Nubila (First prize at the Bacos San Miguel Contemporary Art Biennial, finalist at the Fiver Festival, screenings in Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Mexico and India) – and choreographed the feature film You Are Mythical (Audience Award at the Los Angeles Art Film Festival, Best International Feature Film Award at the Borobudur Film Festival in Indonesia, with screenings in Ecuador, Greece, India and Jordan).
