Through my body I tell a story that happens every day. It’s the story of a silent violence where guilty feelings nourish and feed, cultivate and breed. Where filthiness and shames are thrown upon you. But only dogs like the vomit. I tell about the violence which tastes like lies. About the wickedness which can change your shape. Because it’s convenient to see me like this I dance the violence of turning my fears into reality. Making them solid and abandoning myself right here so that I can damn myself A praise to the misery and poverty of my art, of my visions, where there was wonder before Violence is to discredit and belittle violence Because what they love speaks about me too Because the way they tell it is the way I would tell it Because in order to be hated you just need the will and desire of being somebody else but I’M JUST YOUR FATHER (Sono solo tuo padre) and that’s why I’d love to be seen through my mistakes and through everything I’ve never done. But if there’s something that I know is that I love you. Hence, in this filthiness, I smile because I miss you.

The “Aganis” are mythological aquatic nymphs linked to the aquatic environments of Friuli, a region in northeastern Italy. It is said that it was possible to see these female spirits from the watercourse when the moon rose in the sky. They gathered dancing, wrapped in white robes, which they then left to dry in the moonlight.

Like the flow of water, in some circumstances they would be very sweet, in others extremely turbulent, sometimes seductive girls, sometimes old harpies.

The project investigates, and at the same time narrates and values Friulian mythology and culture, using the language of contemporary dance in the service of a rich and yet little-known tradition.

Aganis’ figures are presented in a form as mythological and elusive as they are physical. Corporeality, although refined and feminine, has its roots in breakdance, with a strong and explosive physicality. A chiaroscuro combination reflecting the dualism and ambivalence of these legendary figures: ethereal, delicate and impalpable aura within a strong warrior body. From breakdance and floorflirting, which have always been part of the company’s activity, there is only one brand, strength and energy that are contaminated with contemporary nuances, with suggestions of worlds beyond dance, to recreate a “mystical” experience.

Giovanni Gava Leonarduzzi started out as a dancer in breakdance, where he has been active since 1997. He quickly started looking for an alternative path and trying to create his own identity and a new language, which we can call «experimental». What he created in these 20 years was born out of footwork, which involves the use of hands and feet in floorwork. From the research on break dance gestures, he started to abstract the movement that was born there. Since 2012 he has been working in parallel on two projects: as a breakdance dancer and choreographer and dancer for Bellanda C.

Bellanda Company was founded in 2012 by choreographer and performer Giovanni Gava Leonarduzzi, having emerged as the evolution of a breakdance group, formed by members of a team fascinated by contemporary dance, and taking a different perspective, exploring a new language. In 2017, Giovanni Leonarduzzi and Claudia Latini decided to give life to the cultural association Ce.Ri.Da. (Centro Ricerca Danza), becoming respectively president and vice president. Ce.Ri.Da. was born to share and disseminate dance and at the same time promote and support the new emerging realities of dance by offering a multifunctional and “protected” space. Since 2017, Bellanda Company and Ce.Ri.Da. act in synergy in the creation, research and dissemination of dance. In 2018, Bellanda company developed the project “Fioriture”, presented at the Surfaces Festival (Biennale Architettura di Venezia), at the Boni Theater (Acquapendente and Face Open Stage Festival (Piove di Sacco). second place in the Pina Bausch award (FIDCDMX, Mexico City). In 2017 the company presented “Là dove nascono i mostri.” In 2015/16 she performed in Anticorpi XL, a project commissioned by Artisti Associati for Mittelfest and “Giovane danza d’autore ” and with the work “Ci sono cose che vorrei” participates in several international festivals such as Quinzena de Dança de Almada, Cadìz en Danza, Tu Danzas (Barcelona), Masdanza (Gran Canarie). The company was also a finalist for the 2013 Equilibrio Roma Award with “Senza saper né leggere né scrivere”.

SONO SOLO TUO PADRE

Coreografia e Interpretação: Giovanni Gava Leonarduzzi
Música: Bellanda Suite de Paki Zennaro
Desenho de Luz: Stefano Mazzanti
Sonoplastia: Paki Zennaro e Matteo Clemente

Em 2018, a companhia desenvolveu o projeto “Fioriture”, apresentado no Surfaces Festival (Biennale Architettura di Venezia), no Boni Theater (Acquapendente e Face Open Stage Festival (Piove di Sacco). Em 2018 «Sono Solo Tuo Padre». ganhou o segundo lugar do prémio Pina Bausch (FIDCDMX, Mexico City). Em 2017 a companhia apresentou «Là dove nascono i mostri».
